Forget about trading herbs with forest elves and get ready for gun fights, car chases, and explosions as you fight against corrupt government agents, drug cartel hitmen, and international crime syndicates, or join up with the bad guys and launch your own plot to take over the world! The possibilities are endless so lock and load, then hit the road and head out for adventure.

Ballistic is being designed by throwing the d20 SRD in a shredder and picking picking out the best parts from the confetti and taping them together with original content to build a new ruleset that emphasizes gameplay speed and combat tactics over number crunching. Therefore, while the meat and potatoes of the game will follow a similar formula to many RPGs, there are a few key differences that set it apart:

  • Only Need D6’s – Unlike other games that require a fist full of polyhedral dice to get started, you can jump right in to Ballistic with just a single pair of 6-sided dice.

  • Combat Uses Action Points – Whatever you can do in a turn, you can do. Every action has an associated AP cost spent from a character’s point pool. Rather than breaking down actions into move and standard actions, a player can move, fire, move again, use an item, in any order all in the same turn, as long as they have the AP.

  • No Classes, No Races – Everyone is a human with unlimited potential; you’re only as good as your training.

  • No HP Increases on Level Up – This is for realism; a naked high-level character cannot so easily defeat a level-1 character with dressed to the nines with body armor and powerful weaponry.

  • Other Differences – You’ll just have to wait and see…

There is no estimated release date for Ballistic; we’re making sure it’s done right before sending it out into the world. As with all our products, Ballistic will be open source, with the core rules released under OGL.
